3rd World Farmer

The purpose of playing this game is to show us how hard the life is of the LEDC's farmers is. There lives are really different from ours, and the game tells us how much different it is. Many people in the world are living really comfortable lives but they know nothing about the people who are living in poverty. So this game is to let them know how much comfortable they are and probably others are not. This game also inspires us to take action.
Througout the game I kept thinking what would happen if I would take something that would harm me. One time I was offered some kind of crop that I rejected as I knew that the result may not be pleasing.
There are two types of decisions. One of them is short-term decision and the other one is long- term decision. In the short- term decision you have to decide very fast and for a short period of time. In the long- term decision you have plenty of time to think and you can also plan about the future as you might have enough time.
The short- term decisions are really harmful as they can your life and even your children's life. They can harm the studies of your children and many more things of your children. The short- term decisions are also bad because once you get into it you will always have to make short- term decisions and it effects you life a lot. For example if your children's education is really low and you don't have enough for it so thats why you leave the education and use most of the money for medication and health care. In short- term decisions you only care about the day that is to approach. You only care about the money for tomorrow and not the day after it. You don't care about it because you might really need the money and you might not have the time to
think.
A long- term decision is when you have plenty of time to think and you can also benefit yourself for a long period of time. You make these kind of decisions when you have pretty much money and you also have enough time to think. Long- terms don't really effect you life or your children' life as you must have enough money for the future. The long- term decisions also help you get out of the poverty cycle you are in.

AIDS DAY REFLECTION

The worlds AIDS day was really fun. We collected a lot of money for the people having HIV/AIDS. We collected about RM 2,500. I am really happy when I heard that we had saved a person's life. It means a lot to me, the other students at ISKL and the world around to us as we had acc I liked to help Ms. Psillides to put the all the laptops away, and I got a little late for my humanities class. I will remember how I helped the people who had AIDS. I will also keep the shirt which I got. I think that the next years GI kids should do something like we did but they should change the games and they should change the type of the shirt. I thing that I learned from this project is that there are many people in the world who don't live a comfortable life and how they suffer from some common deseases. I have also learnt how to help them and what I can do to save their lives.
